Books I Can’t Put Down๐Ÿ“š

Books I Can’t Put Down๐Ÿ“š

The Home Edit is myyyyyyy favorite! Best coffee table book ever. You wanna get inspired?! Take a peak in there and then get to “editing” and organizing! I loved organizing by color, but they really know how to aesthetically please the eye! And “it’s a system!” So everything should have a space, easy to find/put away, and really work with the flow of the household chaos. ๐ŸŒˆ Easier said than done, but! Once it is done – LIFE. CHANGING!

Where The Crawdads Sing is the most beautiful, thrilling book I’ve read in a while! It’s a coming of age, love story, murder mystery๐Ÿ˜. This girl, Kya, has endured so much throughout her childhood, and evolves into a lady, all by her lonesome (I couldn’t even imagine! This girl is seriously badass!) . It’s a book I literally can’t put down. If you’ve been out of the reading game for a while, and need a good book to pull you back in to it, this one is your winner! I promise you, you will not regret a single. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ page. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜

1-2-3 Magic has been a GOD SEND to our household! Because toddlers/kids are HARD! And if you’re anything like me, you want to break the cycle of how you were raised, and parent more calmly, effectively, and happily (like the cover explains ๐Ÿ˜œ ). But this book honestly gave me the mental tools to deal with tantrums and attitudes, and when I feel myself going in circles with them (because sometimes I want to give them a chance, and this book allows 3 chances, but I catch myself not keeping up with it sometimes… my husband on the other hand is a fucking ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ champ ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ at using the 123 Magic method and reminds me to just count and stick to it, rather than drive myself crazy๐Ÿคช (God I love him!๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿฅฐ) and I gotta say, the method fucking works๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ! Worth a shot if you find yourself spiraling with the kiddos! Just try not to forget to count ’em like me, and it’s smooth sailing (promise! It’s worth the read! So incredibly helpful!)!

Fall Wardrobe Staples

Fall Wardrobe Staples

Anyone else find themselves needing some new clothing staples, but can’t seem to find anything for the life of you anywhere?! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

I looked in a few of my favorite stores over the weekend (Ross, Marshalls, Burlington, Old Navy.. gimme all the deals!) and to my shock, because I usually can find at least a few loves for a great price, but NOPE! I found ONE thing! And it’s not even near cold enough to wear yet ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿฅต It’s a black and white distressed sweater with stars on it ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ˜ isn’t it funny how tattered, ripped clothing is literally the chรญcest fad?! I’m here for it though ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿคฉ I love how comfortable and care free, yet still put together, it looks!

I think my biggest trouble not finding anything was A) I couldn’t try anything on because dressing rooms are closed due to Covid ๐Ÿ˜ญ and B) I refuse to pay too much for certain things๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ. For example, a really simple, pretty lace embroidered tank top (to wear under my sweaters): $29! For reals?!?! I will scour the internet and find it for less, OR! I’ll pay $29 as long as it come’s with 2 or 3, not just 1 ๐Ÿคช.

So my shopping at brick and mortar places was a complete bust. Which sucked.. but, at least we have the internet! I love to use Poshmark, Mercari, and of course, Amazon. And if you’re intrigued by Poshmark and decide to sign up, use code @PoshyMa for a $10 credit towards your first purchase! You can also sign up for Mercari and get up to $30 with my invitation link here!

But where I always seem to find what I want/need- Amazon takes the cake on availability/pricing/ease of looking for wtf you want ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฅณ So ladies, best of luck this fall with your fall staples! It’s a different season then usual, so lets embrace the internet lol

Swim Lessons

Swim Lessons

The title says it all folks. I’ve enrolled us (gotta love parent participation ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Ÿ๐Ÿ˜’) in swim lessons. Parker is 5 and we’ve been meaning to sign her up last yr but, life ๐Ÿ™†๐Ÿผ so we’re finally doing it! And figured why not do classes for Marley too. She turn’s 2 in July, and “they say” the earlier, the better, right?!

Right ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ(let’s get it straight before people say they love/hate parent participation classes ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผthis ain’t my first rodeo. I have done yearsss of parent participation classes ๐Ÿ˜‚Marley and I even do a parent participation gymnastics class on Tuesdays right now, while P is in her big girl class ๐Ÿ˜ŠBut swimming sucks because I have to shave, wear a bathing suit, get in the water (not that I hate water but it’s been way cooler than usual in Roseville, CA and its cold in the dang pool!), and then encourage my child ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ that is cold ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ as well ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ lol. So it’s just sometimes rough๐Ÿ˜ณ, but fun at times๐Ÿ˜Ž, and actually really rad to see the growth, and experience it so closely with them. But girrrrrrl ๐Ÿ˜ถshits cold, shaving sucks, and it was every day last week ๐Ÿ˜3 more classes left! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐ŸผI’m done!

My sweet Parker girl has never loved getting her eyes wet (even closed, I mean of course eyes are closed in water lol, but I’m just saying water on the eyes in any way, is torture to this kid๐Ÿ˜ณ), getting splashed in a pool, splash pads are a forbidden for her๐Ÿšซ, and she will bawl her eyes out when any of these events happens๐Ÿ˜ญ. Life ๐Ÿ™†๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™ˆyay. So when daddy and I mentioned we’re starting lessons.. and then the actual day comes and we start lessons ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

The girl was devastated. A complete, terrified, wreck. And I am a total sap for fear. And something really frightening you. And getting past it. And my husband and I are all for not emotionally damaging our child๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ. We related. We explained. We showed examples. Heck, I even scheduled the classes to where Parker watches Marley and I go first. And then we watch big sister when we’re done!

That first day was the hardest.

Marley was so/so the first day. It was SO hot! So she had no problem just getting acquainted with the water. But when it came time to try to blow bubbles in the water.. she was not a fan. But with a few distractions has always come around in class and ends up enjoying it. No worries๐Ÿ™ˆ, mama is just dealing with emotions left and right from these girls, it just takes time for them to come around ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

Today was day 5 (it’s felt like we’ve been doing this for a month now lol). And BOTH๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ. GIRLS๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ. Not only got through the class with no tears, but made leaps and bounds! ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

We may have told P after that first rough day, that if she could be brave and get her face wet without any tears, she could pick out a small toy๐Ÿ™†๐Ÿผ.. a little something to give her the drive to actually want to try (instead of crying and being a complete wreck every time her face got wet๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ญ) so she can get a toy๐Ÿ™†๐Ÿผ. And ever since we made that negotiation

She has been a complete champ!

No shame. I don’t consider that bribing. I consider that facing her fear, and rewarding her for succeeding at it!

And ever since getting her face in the water, and overcoming that huge step, she really likes swim lessons (hallelujah!๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ)! And now we have a 2 day break over the weekend and she’s ready for more! I told her we still luckily have 3 more classes next week, and are you ready for it?! She said: “that’s it?! I want to swim every day like we’ve been doing!” So.. I might sign her up again?! ๐Ÿ™†๐Ÿผwe’ll see if it works out to get another 2 weeks in before our camping trip in Augustโ˜บ๏ธBut Marley and I.. I think we’ll stick to just this round of classes for the summer ๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿผ

I just love that my husband and I are so sensitive to their little soles. And so on the same page in life. I think it’s really important to talk about feelings so that we’re able to feel strong and confident in hard/unknown situations and know that you’re feelings matter. We’re here to guide you. You can always talk to us. And if you’re ever uncomfortable with something please let us know. But swimming is something almost everyone does. And I promise you, you want in on swimming fun for the rest of your life with confidence that you wont drown. Point blank ๐Ÿ™†๐Ÿผ

I feel like I’m ranting on now and should let you go lol

So! I hope you all are having a great summer! And to sum up this post…

I’m almost positive my kids enjoy water now. Bath time is now shower time ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ I’ve reached a new milestone and baths are only at will now lol P has been able to shower now for a while and Marley LOVES showers now.

Our water journey shall continue!

How is your summer going?! Can anyone relate to going to swim lessons with your kiddos? Did they hate water? How do you overcome hard situations with your children? Let’s chat about it! I’d love to hear from ya’all!๐Ÿ˜Š

DIY Taco Seasoning

DIY Taco Seasoning

Hi ya’all! So it’s Sunday. And preschool is officially over ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฉ I’m feeling many emotions about it as I’m sure you can feel just reading this lol. I’m happy, sad, excited, nervous, and straight up a bit overwhelmed with the thought of my first, precious little girl starting the journey of k-12. She is an amazingly smart, oh so sweet, tender little gal that wears her emotions on her face and sleeve and heart (whatever the expression is ๐Ÿ™†๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™ˆyou know what I mean though, right?!). The tears poured out of this poor girl at her preschool graduation. And it was the sweetest, most heart breaking, most amazing thing to watch her push through those tears and sing the songs they’ve been practicing and walked and got her “diploma” but man was it painstakingly hard to watch๐Ÿ˜ฉ. I just wanted to run up and hug her, but she loses it so much more when I console her, which I get (cuz I’m mom and she knows she can just let it gooooo let itttt goooo ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™Š). But I didn’t๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿผ because she was pulling through๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ (unless she looked at me ๐Ÿ™ˆthen she welled back up๐Ÿ˜ญ), but I was just so amazingly impressed at how much my baby has grown up. And after the ceremony, she blossomed into her wonderful little confident self again ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ and we stayed for dinner and a pool party (not your usual preschool graduation, but it was such a fun time for the kids and parents tooooo, even though there were moments of oh my god I’m ready to goooo๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ™ˆ).

So that’s where I’m at in life โ˜บ๏ธNow I need to figure out what the heck I’m going to do with my girls (5 yrs old & almost 2 yrs old) all ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผsummer๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ! But in the meantime, one thing I know that will always be apart of our summer is…

TACOS!

And I know, I know, tacos isn’t only a summer meal. My family, we eat tacos at least once a week (not kidding lol). Sometimes we’ll skip a week of taco nochรฉ, but you better believe we’ll eat it the next week.

I found my taco seasoning recipe on AllRecipes years ago. And it is THE best (seriously, so yummy๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ). It IS spicy๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅso I’ve altered the recipe since we have 2 little ones that thoroughly enjoy taco nochรฉ ๐Ÿ˜‹and since Marley can’t quite handle a taco shell yet, I make her a taco bowl ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐ŸผI’m going to link the original recipe, here, and I’ll post my altered version โฌ‡๏ธ

DIY TACO SEASONING (altered version, toddler/kid friendly)

  • 1 TBSP chili powder
  • 1/2 TSP garlic powder
  • 1/2 TSP onion powder
  • 1/2 TSP oregano
  • 1/2 TSP smoked paprika
  • 1 1/2 TSP ground cumin
  • 1 TSP salt
  • 1/2 TSP pepper

I usually quadruple this recipe and put it in a seasoning jar to get multiple uses out of it (instead of making it every single time, which I stupidly did for far too long and am so happy I keep this stuff in a jar now! I might have to start using a mason jar ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ it’s that good!)
